Live a Life of Love: Worship God

In college I accepted an invitation to attend a small church with some friends I had recently met. Everyone there was doing something I hadn’t seen before. They followed along with preacher’s sermon using their Bible. So as to not feel out of place I went out and bought my own Bible from a Book’s a Million in Mobile, Alabama. I was ready for the next time I went to that church.

TGIF Black History Month

I was born in Panama. My mother was a native of the country and was a blend of European, African and Indigenous people. Latinos call this “mestizo” or “mulatto.” My father was Caucasian, originally from Luverne, Alabama. When I was three my family moved from Panama to lower Alabama. People often want to know where I am from because of my skin tone and light eyes. Although at times in my life my appearance and ethnic background has lead me to experience multiple identity crises and some confusion of where I “fit in.” It has also allowed me to slip in and out of different ethnic and racial circles (for the most part).

A Thousand Sermons: Why I Preach

When I was let go from my first vocational ministry the one thing I knew I wanted to continue to do was preach. I had no idea where God would take me, but it was clear in my mind what I was to do when I got there. The urge to preach was like my second calling. The first being my original calling to ministry while still in college. God wouldn’t leave me alone about it.
